Fleetspec have answered the call to provide top-quality vehicles for the Koodaideri Project.
Located in the central Pilbara region of WA, the Koodaideri Project has been established to deliver a new production hub for Rio Tinto’s world-class iron ore business. The project will see the construction and implementation of a processing plant and infrastructure, including a 166km rail line connecting the new mine to the existing network.
The Koodaideri Iron Ore Mine is located 35km north-west of RTIO Yandicoogina Mine, nearest to the townsite of Newman. Thought to one day be one of the most technologically advanced iron ore mines in the world, it is 100% owned by Rio Tinto. The mine is anticipated to move forward with first production in late 2021.
The Koodaideri Bridge Project was established to increase efficiency and improve safety in traffic maintenance from the Great Northern Highway to the Pilbara. Funded by Rio Tinto and managed by Main Roads WA, the project began in early 2020. The bridge project has also contributed toward the creation of more than 40 local jobs, as well as a $23m contract which was awarded to a joint venture between ACCIONA Geotech and Clough Projects.
Finding themselves with a need to mobilise equipment, materials and workforce, RTIO and Main Roads WA reached out to Fleetspec Hire. The team at Fleetspec provided the project with a strong fleet of vehicles which are being utilised by design and construction contractors. Additionally, Fleetspec buses (22, 25, 50 and 58 seaters) are being used for mobilising workforce and crane trucks are employed for the construction of remote communication towers.
The vehicles are anticipated to be onsite for a minimum of 6 months to a year as the project progresses.
