Fleetspec sends orange to dusty red plains for Iron Bridge

Sending some orange to the dusty red plains of Port Hedland, industry leader Fleetspec Hire has joined forces with MACA Civil and Longfield Services for the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project. The team at Fleetspec have secured a short-term contract with the project to provide service vehicles for undergoing works by NRW Contracting.

The Iron Bridge Project was created for the development of a new magnetite mine and associated infrastructure at the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project site. This is to support the production of 22 wet million tonnes per annum (wmtpa) of high grade, magnetite concentrate product.

Additionally, the project is seeing the construction of a dry processing plant, 135km concentrate pipeline to the existing FMG Herb Elliot processing plant in Port Hedland, domestic airstrip and expanded village for employees. This includes processing and transport facilities.

The project is aiming to see their first delivery of iron ore in early 2022, and expect production to be further amplified soon after.

The project, which is a joint venture (JV) between FMG and Formosa, is currently at Stage 2 and is seeing the outworking of civil earthworks as well as the construction of a processing plant. To effectively and efficiently perform these tasks, the teams behind the project contacted Fleetspec Hire to organise operational vehicles.

Prior to dispatching the vehicles from their Balcatta site, the team mine spec’d 9t crane trucks and a 3t tray truck with crane to meet FMG specifications. The vehicles were then sent en-route to the south of Port Hedland where they will be used for a minimum of 6 months as the project continues to roll out.
